Your support is needed today!
Brioche Bun was transferred to HRS from a local shelter in January of this year with a severe eye injury. It was determined by our veterinarian the eye needed to be removed, and the enucleation (eye removal) surgery was successfully done in-house by our medical team.
Right now, thanks to a generous donor, all gifts to House Rabbit Society are matched, up to $10,000, doubling your impact! Your kindness to the rabbits can go twice as far.
Every gift, large or small, makes a difference and helps create a brighter future for our rabbit friends. Help us raise $20,000!

Somehow we’re already halfway through 2025, and because of your generosity, we have many exciting mid-year updates to share with you!
We're thrilled to announce that we've spayed/neutered 154 rabbits so far this year at our facility in Richmond, California, helping prevent more unwanted rabbits from ending up at overcrowded shelters. We've also vaccinated 474 rabbits through our monthly low-cost vaccination clinics.
Our veterinary training initiative is going strong: we’ve welcomed 28 veterinary professionals to train at our facility. As the only rabbit rescue in the U.S. with a staff veterinarian and on-site surgery suite, we’re working to fill the gap in rabbit-specific medical training.
The summer is a busy time at HRS! Staff and volunteers recently took rabbits to our local Boys & Girls Club for students to learn about rabbits and how they can help rabbits in their community. Of course, they got to meet some rabbits too!
Through our corporate, youth, and shelter outreach program, we've engaged with 1,000 people through events this year, raising awareness about rabbit care and adoption.
We've held 111 Zoom classes with close to 500 people in attendance from around the globe. We're continuing to develop new educational programming, like on-site bonding workshops and our new Zoom class about making a multi-species household work with cats and rabbits.
Through our shelter assistance program, 50 shelters in 50 states now have our educational flyers in English, Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog, and Vietnamese, so that language is never a barrier to providing rabbits with the care they need to thrive.
Our monthly rabbit essentials pantry continues to be a vital resource to the Bay Area community, and so far in 2025, it has been utilized by 96 households which has kept 337 rabbits in homes.
These life-saving medical and educational programs wouldn't be possible without supporters like you, and it fuels our determination to create a better world for rabbits and their human companions. These programs have had an impact on countless rabbits, both here in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, and are only possible because of your generosity.
And with your help, we can do even more. Please donate today if you are able so that this important work can continue. Help us raise $20,000! Together, we can continue rescuing, educating, and advocating for these wonderful animals.
