Times are tough. With some families facing the hard decision of rehoming their rabbit due to the rising costs of living, House Rabbit Society would like to help by hosting a monthly Rabbit Essentials Pantry. In doing so we hope to support those in our community who are struggling the most as well as help keep the rabbit community happy and healthy.

Potential items available include food pellets, hay, litter pellets, litter boxes and toys. Items are first come first serve and no particular product is guaranteed.

In keeping the cost of rabbit care low, we hope to keep families together and rabbits out of the shelter!

Want To Help Make It Possible?

  • Buying an e-gift

Buying an e-gift card from Amazon, Chewy, Petfood Express or any local pet supply store and email it to rabbit-center@houserabbit.org. We can then buy the needed food, litter and hay.

  • Buying an item

Buying an item (or two!) from our Amazon wish list or Chewy wish list and it’ll be delivered directly to us. You can also purchase items through the online House Rabbit Society Hop and leave a note that the items are for the Pantry.

  • Drop off Donations

Drop off pet food donations on site at our facility located at 148 Broadway, Richmond, California. We especially need food and litter pellets. You can also drop off gift cards (we love Pet Food Express and Petco!).

  • "We are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from the HRS pantry each month," one pantry goer shares. "After recently becoming disabled and losing my job, our finances have been tight. Without the help of HRS, it would be incredibly difficult to care for our bunny. Fortunately, he doesn't eat too much, so we're able to use the pantry for only the essentials we run out of each month. Thank you to HRS and their generous donors for making it possible for us to keep our bunny. Caring for him has been a truly rewarding experience. Not only have we been able to provide a loving home for a rabbit in need (foster fail), having him has brought us so much joy and fulfillment. He has been a source of comfort and companionship during a challenging time. HRS's no-pressure, judgement free, encouraging approach has been invaluable in this journey. I always highly recommend HRS to anyone interested in helping rabbits. Their support makes it possible for owners and rabbits to stay together through the difficult times. HRS has been providing an essential community service in Richmond that needs more recognition and support."
