Our new multilingual educational resources

Education is one of the most powerful tools we have to change the lives of rabbits, and it's one of the pillars of House Rabbit Society. We believe that everyone deserves access to quality information about how to properly care for rabbits, no matter what language they speak. That’s why we’re excited to share that we’ve expanded our educational resources to include translations in Chinese, Tagalog, and Vietnamese, in addition to English and Spanish.

Flyers on topics such as rabbit diet, emergency care, and more are now available to download at houserabbit.org/shelter-assistance. We’ve also created a new multilingual “Raising a Healthy House Rabbit” guidebook. These materials are free and accessible to anyone so that language is never a barrier to helping provide rabbits with the care they need to thrive.

We hope you’ll share these resources with anyone in your life who may benefit from learning about rabbits in their native language. You can also help by sharing them with your local animal shelter or rescue group. If your shelter accepts rabbits – or even if they don’t – you can request that we mail them printed copies of our multilingual educational materials by filling out our shelter assistance request form

Formally launched in 2024 in response to the massive influx of surrendered rabbits nationwide to municipal shelters after the COVID-19 pandemic, the HRS shelter assistance program is designed to support local shelters and rescues in addressing and reducing rabbit surrenders. This program aims to equip animal welfare professionals with valuable resources and tools to assist rabbit owners in resolving common issues that may lead to pet surrender.

We’re proud to share that so far this year, we’ve mailed educational materials to 50 different shelters in all 50 U.S. states through the shelter assistance program.

With your support, we can keep this important work going! Please give today at houserabbit.org/donate if you’re able. When you give to HRS, you're not just helping the rabbits in our shelter, you're supporting low-cost spay/neuter, our veterinary training initiative, and the development and distribution of urgently needed educational resources across the country and beyond. Together, we can make sure that language is never a barrier to providing rabbits with the care they need to thrive!
